Gender Equality Will Fail Without Data

Imagine the collective joy (and relief) in Sept 2015 at a historic UN Summit, when - after years of negotiation - representatives from most of the countries of the world finally signed up to the terms of the 17 #SustainableDevelopmentGoals (SDGs) in order to end poverty through social and economic improvement, and to protect this precious planet through environmental measures, by 2030.

Some of the 17 are considered pivotal to achieving overall success, and one of these - #SDG5 #GenderEquality - is agreed to being fundamental: through the equal treatment of everyone - regardless of gender - and the empowerment of women and girls to achieve their full potential.

However, midway through the process, few could have predicted the global pandemic and the resulting devastating impact, which has halted - or reversed - years of progress on poverty, health and education. Covid-19 has been particularly devastating and discriminating to women, and the hard work done towards achieving Gender Equality.

But rather than being disheartened, it is therefore more important than ever to keep up commitment and pressure to meet these goals by 2030. An essential part of achieving success rests with keeping robust and timely #data to monitor SDG progress and direct targeted action.

At PREDIXA, we have incorporated the principles surrounding gender equality into our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) diagnostic tool - Predixa Dynamix - that can be used by organisations to both monitor and review progress quickly driven by the power of #AI, and to act on improvements and report transformational progress to key stakeholders - including government departments.

So if you need to better understand how your organisation is progressing in achieving gender equality targets as part of your country’s collaborative efforts to achieve SDG5 success, contact either Kirsten Westholter or Paula Newby. www.predixa.ai
